KLSCM 2025 Pacer Application - Terms and Conditions

General

  1. You must be a resident of Malaysia and at least 21 years old as of race day.
  2. You are required to have a proven record of success in running at the distance and pace specified for your chosen category.
  3. You must be able to comfortably run even splits throughout the race, meaning that each kilometre is run in about the same amount of time.
  4. Proven success as a pacer in the past is a plus, but not a requirement.
  5. Other running experiences and past track records, attitude and commitment to our pacer programme will also be taken into consideration during selection process.
  6. Application Period: 10 March – 16 March 2025.
  7. The Organiser reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. In the event that any changes are made, the revised terms and conditions shall be posted on this website immediately. Please check the latest information posted herein to inform yourself of any changes.

Assessment Run

  1. All shortlisted applicants are required to participate in the assessment run.
  2. If you are shortlisted, you will be contacted to attend the run (7km for the 10km category, 10km for the half marathon category and 18km for the full marathon category) on 13 April 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.
  3. You need to run in the pace that you will be pacing for on race day (e.g., the full marathon 4:30 pacers need to run a pace of 6:23 min/km).
  4. Watches, mobile phones, or any sort of electronic devices, as well as non-electronic tools which can track your pace are strictly not allowed.
  5. Further details about the assessment run will be emailed to the shortlisted applicants.

Roles and Duties

  1. If you are chosen to be a pacer for KLSCM 2025, you are required to adhere to the pacer rules and agreement.
  2. You must meet your obligations as a pacer, especially maintaining a consistent pace and completing the run with your fellow pacer partner(s) with a gun time of 1 second to 1 minute ahead of the pace group timing.
  3. You need to be prepared to offer encouragement and motivate runners in your pack.
  4. You are required to complete the run attired in the official pacer singlet, shorts, and shoes (and other sponsored items, if any) with a balloon attached to you, and wear your own running watch. The pacer bib must be pinned onto the back of your pacer singlet.
  5. Please note that you are required to have a Strava account and must grant the Organiser and its representatives permission to follow and view your full profile, including your name, activities, activity maps, and key stats. You must be able to provide the Organiser and its representatives with, upon request, any other relevant training logs and records, and your individual workout record as well as your team pacing strategies.
  6. You must not participate in any events or races (distances of 21km and above), including, but not limited to, road or trail running, cycling or mountain biking, triathlon, duathlon or any other sports involving a substantial risk of personal injury which may impair or affect your ability as a pacer, 3 weeks prior to race day (the duration of 15 September to 5 October 2025).
  7. You are required to attend and participate in one (1) Running Clinic session on 7 September 2025.
  8. You must attend the ‘Meet the Pacers’ session at the Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC) and Active Lifestyle, if any.
  9. You may be requested to perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties of a pacer.

Benefits

  1. A race entry pack which consists of a drawstring bag, a running T-shirt/singlet, a running bib with a timing chip, and other sponsored items, if any. Please self-collect your race entry pack during the Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC) event in October like other public runners. There will not be a dedicated counter for Pacers.
  2. A pacer kit which consists of a pacer singlet, a pair of shorts, socks, and shoes, and a cap/visor sponsored by KLSCM 2025 Apparel Sponsor (and other sponsored items, if any).
  3. Featured as a pacer on the KLSCM website and social media platforms.

Indemnity and Release Agreement

By submitting this application,

  1. I affirm that the facts set forth in this application form are true, accurate, current and complete.
  2. I understand that if I am accepted as a volunteer pacer, any false information, omissions, or other misrepresentations made by me on this application may result in my immediate dismissal.
  3. I agree to the commitments and responsibilities I must fulfil, which failing to do so will result in my immediate dismissal and full confiscation of my sponsored pacer apparel and shoes.
  4. I agree that the Organiser reserves the right to select pacers and assign me to any pace group as it deems fit. I understand that the Organiser reserves the right to re-assign my pace group should the need arise.
  5. I agree that I am participating as a volunteer pacer at my own risk, including but not limited to serious injury or even death from various causes including over exertion, dehydration and accidents with other volunteer pacers, runners, spectators or road users. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my entry application and participation as a pacer in the Event or any activity associated with it. I consent to receiving any medical treatment that the Organiser thinks necessary during or after the Event.
  6. I, the undersigned, in consideration of and as a condition of acceptance of my entry as a volunteer pacer for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns, release the Organiser, officers, its agents, affiliates, employees, members, sponsors, partners, promoters and any person or other body directly or indirectly associated with the Event, from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of or in connection with my participation as a volunteer pacer and I indemnify them against all liability (including acts of negligence to the fullest extent permitted by law) whatsoever and howsoever caused arising as a result of or in connection with my participation as a volunteer pacer including any loss whatsoever of personal property or otherwise.
  7. I will abide by the Event Rules and Regulations, Terms and Conditions and other rules and timelines, as varies from time to time and will accept that the Organiser has discretion to accept or decline any entry on whatever grounds.
